چکیده

Magnetic Field Effects Prior to 1970 there were several reports of the effects of magnetic fields on chemical reactions, though there was much rebuttal and retraction in this early literature (1-3). Since 1970, the number of reproducible examples has grown rapidly. Most contemporary theories explaining these effects stem from the development of the radical pair theory of Chemically Induced Dynamic Nuclear Polarization, CIDNP (4, 5). These are based on the interconversion of spin multiplets through the action of inhomogeneous magnetic fields, hyperfine interactions, or differences in the g factors of the chemical species involved. Most systems that exhibit magnetic field effects involve reactions of radical pairs, though other examples, such as the interconversion of ortho and para hydrogen (3), luminescence arising from triplet-triplet annihilation (6), and quenching of triplet states by radicals (7), are well documented. A good example of the effect of a magnetic field on a reaction involving radical pairs in solution is the pioneering work by Schulten & Weller and Michel-Beyerle & Haberkorn on triplets formed by the recombination reaction between pyrene anions (2py7) and dimethylanaline cations (ZDma .+) (8-13) shown in Figure 1. Applied magnetic fields decrease the

Anisotropic magnetic interactions in the primary radical ion-pair of photosynthetic reaction centers.

The quantum yield of triplets formed by ion-pair recombination in quinone-depleted photosynthetic reaction centers is found to depend on their orientation in a magnetic field. This new effect is expected to be a general property of radical pair reactions in the solid state. For 0 < H < 1,000 G, the quantum yield anisotropy is caused by anisotropic electron dipole-electron dipole or nuclear hype...

Effects of nuclear spin polarization on reaction dynamics in photosynthetic bacterial reaction centers.

Singlet-triplet mixing in the initial radical-pair state, P[unk]I[unk], of photosynthetic bacterial reaction centers is due to the hyperfine mechanism at low magnetic fields and both the hyperfine and Deltag mechanisms at high magnetic fields (>1 kG). Since the hyperfine field felt by the electron spins in P[unk]I[unk] is dependent upon the nuclear spin state in each radical, the relative proba...

Flow field and heat transfer in a channel with a permeable wall filled with Al2O3-Cu/water micropolar hybrid nanofluid, effects of chemical reaction and magnetic field

In this study, flow field and heat transfer of Al2O3-Cu/water micropolar hybrid nanofluid is investigated in a permeable channel using the least square method. The channel is encountered to chemical reaction, and a constant magnetic field is also applied. The bottom wall is hot and coolant fluid is injected into the channel from the top wall. The effects of different parameters such as the Reyn...

Single phase polycrystalline Gd1-xPrxBa2Cu3O7-δ samples with x=0.05 , 0.10, and 0.15 have been prepared by standard solid state reaction technique and characterized by XRD and SEM analysis. The electrical resistivity, Hall effect and magnetoresistance measurements have been on the samples. The electrical resistivity measurements indicate a reduction of transition temperature (Tc) and an incre...

Energetics of Primary Charge Separation in Bacterial Photosynthetic Reaction Center Mutants: Triplet Decay in Large Magnetic Fields†

The triplet state of aromatic molecules forms and decays by intersystem crossing, as originally demonstrated by Kasha and Lewis. By contrast, the triplet state of the primary electron donor, 3P, in photosynthetic reaction centers is formed exclusively by spinand magnetic-field-dependent charge recombination of the initially formed radical ion pair. 3P decays by intersystem crossing at low tempe...
